$23M for communities to reduce greenhouse emissions a welcome move

The Alternative Technology Association (ATA), Australia’s largest not-for-profit sustainable living organisation, welcomes the Victorian Government’s announcement of $23M in funding for community climate change projects.

Premier Brumby today announced the Climate Communities initiative to promote voluntary action on climate change. $10M will be new funding.

The Alternative Technology Association (ATA) welcomes the opportunity to respond to the current Review of South Australia’s Solar Feed-in Scheme.

ATA is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1980 to empower our community to develop and share sustainable solutions and to promote the uptake of sustainable technologies. The organisation provides service to over 5,000 members nationally (including almost 600 in South Australia and with a very active branch), who are actively promoting sustainability in their own homes by using good building design and implementing water conservation and renewable energy technologies.

Submission to West Australian Feed-in Tariff Discussion Paper

The Alternative Technology Association (ATA) welcomes the opportunity to respond to the West Australian Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Discussion Paper.

ATA is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1980 to empower our community to develop and share sustainable solutions and to promote the uptake of sustainable technologies. The organisation provides service to over 5,000 members nationally (including almost 600 in WA comprising membership of two separate branches), who are actively promoting sustainability in their own homes by using good building design and implementing water conservation and renewable energy technologies.

As Australia’s peak member-based organisation representing proponents of renewable micro-generation systems, ATA is in a unique position to highlight the experience of small-scale renewable energy system owners and their interaction with the energy market.

NSW introduces generous payment for solar homes

The Alternative Technology Association (ATA) applauds the NSW government for introducing one of Australia’s most progressive payments for household solar power.

The NSW government’s shift away from previous plans for a net feed-in tariff, in line with other states, is a clear signal the Rees government is committed to building a green collar workforce in NSW, says Damien Moyse, ATA’s Energy Policy Manager.

Submission to Smart Meter Working Group – Net Import / Export Calculation Capability

The Alternative Technology Association (ATA) has identified a need for all twin element meters to be able to calculate net export and net import both of active power (kW) and active energy (kWh) values.

Of the metering configurations specified in NSMP SMI Functional Specification version 0.21, this capability is required for the following:

- Single Phase / Two Element meters with Controlled Load Contactor (second element measures controlled load); and

- Single Phase / Two Element meters for on-site generation (second element measures on-site energy generation).
