The Topic will be – Electric Motors Demystified

Guest Speaker: Robert Cook

Robert taught the electrical subjects for the Renewable Energy course at Swinburne University (TAFE) for the last two years and has recently worked as a Technical Officer for Tech Support, again at Swinburne University. Qualified as an Electrical Fitter, Robert has been an enthusiast of the principles that govern electric motors. His motto is ‘why talk about it when you can demonstrate it’!

This talk will attempt to clarify what the various motor options are, how they operate and some of the differences between them, particularly in performance characteristics.   This is NOT intended to be a highly technical talk but is designed to give conversion interested members enough basic information to enable them to understand the different motor options.  This will be a highly visual and practical meeting with most of the motors available for demonstration.  There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion both at the meeting and afterwards over coffee, however, if there is a specific point you would like covered, you may email that through to us on mjake@internode.on.net prior to the meeting.

Please Note – For all of those people who cannot get to the meeting – we will continue to be trialling a web stream. If would like to watch it on your computer log in to www.blogtv.com/People/clintsteele) .
