Brisbane Branch meeting: Large Scale Renewable Energy

When: Thursday 27 May
Time: 7.15pm for 7.30pm start
Where: Albion Peace Centre, 102 MacDonald Rd, Albion (underneath Albion Overpass; UBD 140 Ref. D14)

Geothermal Energy – Doone Wyborn, the Chief Scientist at Geodynamics Ltd, will provide an overview of their focus in developing renewable geothermal energy generation from hot fractured rocks in Australia. Geothermal energy has the potential to be a critical element of Australia’s future power generation.

Designing Large Scale Photovoltaic Systems – Dane Muldoon, from The Solar Guys, will look at designing large scale photovoltaic systems. This presents some unique challenges that do not exist in residential system design. These challenges include cable run length, current limits, enabling works, zero penetration framing systems, power density and performance contracts. A real life project to deliver a 1.2MW system will be used as a case study.
