Sydney Central: May 2010 Meeting

The speaker for the next Alternative Energy Association meeting is Nevin Sweeney on the topic of “Cooking with the Sun – A Homebrew Experience”.

Fifteen years ago, Nevin Sweeney became interested in cooking food with the power of the sun alone and soon built a working solar oven. From there he developed others, including a complex parabolic reflecting cooker and a homebrew cooker called the Nelpa. Nevin will share what he has learned from his experiences and also his “Plan B”, a rocket stove which is useful and efficient when the sun isn’t shining.

Nevin works in a management position with an environmental focus. As well as his personal research and formal studies into sustainability, he is pushing the boundaries on what can be achieved on a standard suburban block.

Following the main talk, we plan to have our annual election of committee members and roles, so you are also welcome to stay for this, and to provide input for the next year for ATA Sydney Central.

Time: 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday May 11

Location: 11th Floor, Telstra Building, 320 Pitt St, Sydney
