More than 30 members and guests attended David McDonald’s talk on geothermal energy. David explained conventional geothermal power generation from volcanic sources and enhanced geothermal power generation from hot rocks. He described the progress of his company, KUTh Energy, towards developing geothermal power generation in Vanuatu and Tasmania.  More information about geothermal energy and KUTh Energy’s projects is on the company’s web site http://www.kuthenergy.com/.

Also at the meeting, Tony Muscio put forward his proposal to set up Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within the Branch and potentially including members in other Branches. The idea was well received by the members present. The first SIG will be on setting up the Special Interest Groups (the SIG SIG) and more information will be made available as that progresses. At this stage, anyone interested in establising a SIG can contact Tony at atasydney@gmail.com.
