In several blogs people have complained that solar hot water systems in Australia are expensive while they are cheap in China. They are correct.
A high quality 30 tube hot water collector with stainless steel tank, pump and controller can be bought for about US$1000. With shipment cost, fees and taxes it will be a bit less than 2000 Australian dollars by the time it is in an Australian store.
Provided the system was listed for rebates, it could be given away for free and the importer would still make money!
However in order to be listed, the system must be certified according to Australian standards. I have roughly checked the fees and it looks likely that the certification cost will be around $20000. This is more than I as a small business can handle. Therefore I am looking for business partners who are interested in sharing the certification cost and the future benefits with me.

Unfortunately this business model is inappropriate because it is the cost of having the unit installed on the roof and come to the end of the warrantee period that is important. Then if it breaks you can shrug your shoulders and offer to quote them on a new system.
After all if you purchase a container load of equipment you will have to pay interest on the purchase price while it is installed and wait for payment.
You are going to have to pay salespeople to convince the customer that this is a sensible thing to purchase.
You are going to have to employ a manager to ensure the various government offices are kept happy (or no rebate for you) and other things are done appropriately.
After all this you need to make some sort of profit. After all I assume you have to pay for food and electricity like the rest of us.
Some people may even suggest you should get some sort of reward for taking this risk.
What level of profit is fair and reasonable is a personal thing.
But if you can

Maybe what I wrote had been a bit misleading. I am actually not looking for finance but for business partners who would like to go through the certification process with me and make money on selling low cost approved systems throughout Australia. Thus the cost of certification can be shared and importing will become cheaper if several parties are importing a large container together.

I agree.
As for the high cost for Australia certification for Solar Water heater system, there is nearly no Chinese Solar Water heater manufacturer would like to apply for Australia Certification. This is the reason why your price is so high!

Our business specialises in the certification of gas and electric appliances and components for Australia and New Zealand. There are ways, and there are ways of approving most things. We deal globally, especially from China and are based in Melbourne.
I am not sure if spruiking is allowed on the forum, so I will not advise my email address. However, you can respond here or leave a contact email etc if interested.
Trusting this may be of interest to you.
