In the current issue of ReNew (issue 111) we've asked people to write in with ideas for green jobs. The latest issue should be in your letterbox late this week or early next week.
What type of green products and services would you buy if they were available? What are the areas of need? We want you to look at the areas of food, water, energy, waste and transport to imagine some jobs that can be created. If we look across these sectors there are many such jobs but there could be many more if we used some imagination.
For example, would you like to add extra insulation to an oven or hot water service? What if you could buy a range of attractive styrofoam panels to attach magnetically to the sides and door of your fridge to reduce heat gain? If you have a rainwater tank, would you find a solar powered timer-valve useful to irrigate the garden? No pump, no external power supply, just hook it up, set the times and water flows through it under gravity feed.
These are a few basic examples. Post your ideas here and we'll select the most promising concepts as the basis for an article in ReNew.
Cheers
Jacinta
