The typical offering is about 3 x more insulative than equivalent thickness batt. There are experimental version with about up 10x more insulation. The only downside is its price which doesn't make it very cost effectiveness.
It has a similar weight and density to batts but has a greater number of compartmentalised air pockets distributed through its structure. The air provides the insulation.
If you don't mind thicker walls, a strawbale home would provide equivalent insulation.
There are lots of cutting edge products out there including phase change materials to act as thermal mass but they impractically expensive to use as a building product.
