A night to share stories from community groups involved in solar lighting projects in Timor Leste.
Australian and Timorese community groups are partnering to provide solar powered lighting and electricity for remote locations in Timor Leste. Come and hear how these projects will benefit communities and find out how you can be involved in sharing some light with our neighbors. Hosted by the Alternative Technology Association speakers from the following groups will be discussing their projects:
- The East Timor Women’s Association’s“Gimme Shelter” project will be providing light and a space for women’s weaving collectives.
- Permatil is a Timorese NGO conducting Permaculture courses which plans to upgrade training facilities with solar power so that activities can occur at night and laptop/communication facilities powered.
- The Australia Timor-Leste Carmalites aim to power their compound in Zumalai to improve community access to educational and training facilities as well as improving living conditions.
The ATA’s International Projects Group is a volunteer group that has completed over 50 solar power projects providing clean renewable light and electricity to orphanages, medical clinics and community centers. We are looking for the Melbourne community to get involved in our work and support sharing light with our friends.
