Congratulations to Alan, Chris and Mike – ATA’s three new life members

In 2010 the Alternative Technology Association celebrates 30 years of providing advice and inspiration for sustainable living around the home.

As part of the celebrations ATA has recognised three members who were given life memberships for their contribution to the organisation.

Alan Strickland
Alan has been instrumental in the growth of the ATA branch in South Australia. A long term branch convenor Alan has helped build the branch to be a thriving centre of activity. His tireless efforts in organising Sustainable House Day, attending shows and events has helped spread the word on sustainable living to a broader audience. Alan is always looking at innovative new ways to share knowledge and to inspire others to take action in their own homes.

Chris Moss
Chris is a longstanding ATA member and has been involved in a number of ways from assisting the construction of the solar workshop, membership of the board, convemor of themelbourne branch and working on the solar shuttle in its renewable education of Australia. More recently he has contributed to the ATA International Projects Group, as a funding member working on solar installations across East Timor. Chris has always been willing to lend a hand in all areas of the ATA’s activities and has made a huge contribution over more than 25 years of membership.

Mike O’Connell
Mike has been a giant of a man in his contribution to the ATA. He has been our longest serving board member with 11 years from 1998 to 2009. For many years he was the public face of the organisation as President between 2000 and 2008. Having stepped down from the board he has found himself busier than ever, applying his broad skill set to a range of projects from solar training in Timor to energy efficiency audits. Mike has combined charm, wit, knowledge and passion to be one of ATA’s best advocates for a more sustainable world.
