East Timor renewables wrap-up

Over the last few months the ATA International Projects Group’s(IPG) installation teams criss-crossed East Timor, from the Indonesian border in the remote South-East, to the highland of Ermera and the Island of Autoro. The events of the last few years have left their fresh scars on the already roughened face of Dili. On the advice of UNPOL we postponed the implementation of one project which was located in a disputed area. In other parts of the country things are looking much better, new buildings are being constructed and roads being built. Hopefully this is a sign for the future of Timor Leste.

This year the IPG completed 16 renewable energy projects including installing solar power in 30 different locations in East Timor. Highlights included installing solar power in four health clinics, installing our first wind turbine in East Timor and the commencement of the first trials in the Village Lighting Scheme.

You are invited to an Information and wrap –up evening, which will be an opportunity to find out about this years projects and is an occasion for the IPG to thank the generous supporters of our activities. A short documentary will be shown and presentations from the IPG’s Mike Harris and Anton Vikstrom.

Looking forward, the IPG is excited to be continuing its activities throughout East Timor and is planning projects in other countries in 2008. Moreover, we wish to continue our relationship with our kind supporters within the renewable energy industry and broader community.

We look forward to seeing you at the wrap-up.
