Katy Daily is determined be as sustainable as possible in 2015, and she’s found something that can help her which is tax-deductible and benefits the ATA at the same time.
Last December she offset all the carbon emissions for her family holidays in 2014 – a round trip to the US and four flights to Brisbane and back from Melbourne – through the Community Climate Chest (C3).
It all amounted to an offset of 13.2 tonnes of CO² for $119, cheaper than most other schemes and with the ATA’s rigorous seal of approval. We’re one of the organisations that established C3.
Katy’s New Year’s resolution was to offset all the gas she and her family have used in their home in Melbourne since they moved from the US in 2011.
“We also bought a new car when we moved here so I plan on offsetting all of the kilometres on my car as well as my electricity, car and air travel quarterly after that,” she said.
“If I can catch up with my gas and car travel, then a good portion of my energy usage in Australia will be carbon-neutral.”
Katy also buys her GreenPower through C3 and thinks it’s great because it gives her more choice about the renewable energy projects she supports.
Remember, it’s tax-deductible and when you go to https://www.climatechest.org.au/host/ata/ a portion of the proceeds goes to the ATA, ensuring we continue our work for a sustainable future.
