Highlights of ATA’s achievements in the last 12 months include:
Pushing the boundaries: Advocacy & Policy
- Advocating for a national and state-based gross feed-in tariff, the most effective mechanism for driving large scale uptake of solar power. ATA has been a leading force in placing gross feed-in tariffs on the agenda.
- Calling for changes to the federal government’s proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) to take into consideration voluntary actions taken by individuals to reduce Australia’s overall emissions.
- Calling for amendments to the design of the federal government’s expanded Renewable Energy Target and the Solar Credits Scheme to ensure that annual renewable energy targets are not distorted by the creation and sale of ‘phantom RECs’.
- Engaging in the national debate on electricity market reform, including policy processes relating to electricity distribution network planning and the impact of climate change policies on the national electricity market.
Cutting-edge research
- Analysing the ingredients of common soaps, shampoos and body wash products and their potential impact on soils when greywater is used to water gardens.
- Conducting Stage 2 of research into the viability of small-scale turbines in urban areas, measuring wind regimes at 10 sites.
International Projects
- For the sixth year, the ATA International Projects Group completed solar power installations in Timor including basic solar powered lighting for an entire village.
