Take action on the NSW Government’s solar feed-in tariff

The New South Wales Government has announced that it will introduce a feed-in tariff for householders who install solar photovoltaic systems-very good news for ATA members in NSW!

However, the design of the scheme is of critical importance. Across the country, the ATA has been arguing for strong solar feed-in tariffs that pay householders for all of the electricity they produce (called a gross feed-in tariff) – not just for the surplus electricity that is fed back into the electricity grid (called a net feed-in tariff).

Only a gross feed-in tariff will provide enough financial incentive to those households wishing to go solar and make a significant contribution toward reducing their emissions from electricity in NSW.

A government taskforce is currently investigating options for the scheme and has called for public submissions. This is a fantastic opportunity for ATA members in NSW to write to the taskforce and strongly advocate for a gross feed-in tariff scheme.

Submissions should be sent by 12 January to:

NSW Solar Feed-In Tariff Taskforce
