Victorian Distributed Generation Information Audit

In mid-2012 the ATA conducted an audit of current information available to local government on distributed generation for the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord.

Distributed (or demand-side) generation is electricity generated by consumers – including solar, small wind, fuel cells etc.

The purpose of this project was to engage directly with councils and council officers specifically involved in the identification, feasibility, project management, commissioning and operation of DG projects throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria to:

  • understand in detail specific information gaps, barriers and problems with information co-ordination; in order to
  • develop a set of specific recommendations on improving information to enhance local government capacity to manage and deliver successful DG projects.
