Guest Speaker- Simon Holmes a Court
After the AGM, from 7pm, please stay for some food and drink and listen to our guest speaker Simon Homes a Court on the positive renewable energy developments happening in Australia that don’t make the news.
Simon began his career as a software engineer in Silicon Valley during the first dot-com wave. Upon returning to Australia in 2001 he worked in his family’s northern Australian cattle operations, an experience that led him to found Observant, a Melbourne-based precision farm water management company.
Simon was the founding chair of Hepburn Wind, Australia’s first community-owned wind farm near Daylesford in Victoria, which began operating in 2011. Simon founded Embark Australia, a non-profit organisation that has played a leading role in the development of community energy in Australia. Embark was critical in the development of the Darling Harbour-based Sydney Renewable Power Company, the largest community-owned solar farm in the country.
Simon is a member of the advisory board of the Melbourne Energy Institute and the Energy Transition Hub at Melbourne University.
